Let’s Play: Melissa and Doug – Cutting Food: Wooden Play Food and Cutting Fruit Set

My daughter played with these sets at her cousin’s house and couldn’t get enough of them. I gave in and got her two of the sets from Melissa and Doug (Cutting Food and Cutting Fruit). Both sets are made of wood and come with a wooden knife. After watching her play with this for a while (a long while – she LOVES these!) I came up with some other ideas on how you can teach through play using these cutting sets. Imitation – Teach your child how to cut the different types of food by simply showing them how to … Continue reading Let’s Play: Melissa and Doug – Cutting Food: Wooden Play Food and Cutting Fruit Set

LET’S PLAY: Fisher-Price Little People Animal Friends Farm

This farmhouse that folds resembles the Fisher-Price Little People Surprise and Sounds Home I reviewed a few weeks ago. It’s convenient because all the pieces fit inside and you can fold it up to bring to the grandparent’s house. My daughter loves animals so this was perfect for her. It’s recommended for children 1-5 and comes with 7 farm friends: Farmer Eddie, a pig, sheep, chicken, cow, horse, and goat. It also comes with a hay bale and a barn that folds up. The barn door and gate make different animal sounds or farm tunes. The barn also has pictures of baby … Continue reading LET’S PLAY: Fisher-Price Little People Animal Friends Farm

LET’S PLAY: Fisher-Price Little People Surprise and Sounds Home

LET’S PLAY: Fisher-Price Little People Surprise and Sounds Home Recommended for ages 1-5, this is actually one of my daughter’s go-to toys right now. She loves pretend play and actually loves the kitchen area. She pretends she’s baking cookies because one of the phrases says something about the cookies being ready. This doll house says so many phrases and has so many sounds I don’t remember them all. It comes with the home that folds so you can carry it with the handle up top, 3 Little People (Mom, Dad, and Emma), a table and 3 chairs. Here are a … Continue reading LET’S PLAY: Fisher-Price Little People Surprise and Sounds Home

LET’S PLAY: Melissa and Doug Nesting & Sorting Garages and Cars

LET’S PLAY: Melissa & Doug Nesting and Sorting Garages and Cars Recommended for ages 2 and up, this was an instant hit for my daughter. She loved this toy! The garages are vibrant, colorful, and made out of sturdy cardboard. Each garage is a solid color with a brick design. On the front of each garage is a number with an opening for the car to park. On the back of the garages are pictures of a car that coincides with its number. The sizes of the garage go from big to small, #1 being the largest and #7 being … Continue reading LET’S PLAY: Melissa and Doug Nesting & Sorting Garages and Cars

LET’S PLAY: Fisher-Price My Little SnugaMonkey Animal Friends Pop-Up

LET’S PLAY: Fisher-Price My Little SnugaMonkey Animal Friends Pop-Up This toy is recommended for ages 6 months and up. It’s a classic and there are so many different versions of it. I bought this toy when my daughter was about 6 months old. She’s 2.5 years old now and will still play with when she sees it. Here are some activities you can do with this simple yet diverse toy. Imitation – I would show her how to   open each object and tell her to “do this” and “watch” as I press the button, turn the flower looking shape or push/pull the levers. I … Continue reading LET’S PLAY: Fisher-Price My Little SnugaMonkey Animal Friends Pop-Up
